I am not talking about when you first meet someone, I am referring to my header/banner on the top of the page. Over the years and months that my blog has been up it has seen many many changes to the styling and to the header. I feel that the header is one of the most important things on a website. It’s what people first see when they visit. You have a better chance of people returning if their eyes don’t bleed from your fugly ass design.

So as a treat, here are all 7 of my past header/banner designs. Which one is your favorite? Oh, but before we begin, I am in the process of making another new one, and hopefully I will finish it by Monday. It’s gonna look nice!

1. This one brings back memories of when I had no idea how to create and maintain a website. It’s so poorly designed. I mean look at the font and how rough it looks. Glad I changed this one quickly.

First Header

2. This was a great improvement over the first one. It’s all cold looking and better colored.

3. Same as the last, but with lightning!

4. Now it’s raining!

5. Switched from the animated gifs because they were too big of a file and took awhile to load up. This one is from a statue I shot when traveling in a car somewhere in Taizhong. Also the first banner that displayed my slogan.

6. This one was probably displayed on my site the longest. I took this picture while I was in the mountains somewhere having tea. I added the slightly modified “Parental Advisory” tag. Explicit thoughts indeed!

7. The current header on the site. The background is actually a picture of a pillar that I turned sideways. The real picture is on my Flickr page.

The one I am making right now, is actually giving me a headache. I know what I want it to look like, but photoshop is giving me a hard time. The new one when completed will no doubt put the old ones to shame. Don’t forget to vote on which one you liked best so far.

I like the second one, it looks clean and uncluttered. It could use a thicker layer of frost to really frost it up, I think.
