On Wednesday I was “let go” from my job. Now there are many theories on why this has happened. Their reason was that “not enough students have signed up for the class so they are closing it”. My theory is that one of my students was also the bosses daughter and seriously messed up in the head, and the day before I complained again (must of been the 20th time) about her. I didn’t do the normal “she is acting up in class and was violent” routine, this time I flat out told her mother that the 3 years I have been living and working in Taiwan that her daughter is the most horrible, mentally messed up kid I have ever taught. I don’t think she was happy to hear this. She should of expected it though, as from what I have heard she had to make weekly trips to her school to apologize to the teachers for her behavior.

Don’t feel sorry for me or anything. I had it with that school and the idiot boss there. I was on the verge of quitting, I’m talking about inches, no millimeters away from either demanding a HUGE raise or quitting. I wasn’t gonna lose much, as I only worked there 6 hours a week. In all my life I have never wanted to quit a job so much as I wanted to quit from that one. I feel so relieved that I don’t have to go back and put of with it. It wasn’t even close to my house, I had to travel a bit to get there. I think my next gig is either going back to the adorable, obedient, and behaved kindergarteners or working with adults. I hate teenagers.

You don’t have to worry about my “Taiwanese Children Stories” segment to stop, as I still have some in reserve. I think I’ll take a week or so vacation before I jump back on the work horse. If any one out there has some info about a job drop me a line.

If I had to pick between being saying I was fired or that I was now free. I think I’ll have to quote William Wallace and say “FREEEEDOM!!!

Sounds like your job really sucked, with your experience you should have no trouble finding a new one. Good luck!

It reminds me of a time a few years ago. I taught a new class and after the class the boss asked how the students behaved. I told him they were all very well behaved except for XXXX who was very naughty. The boss replied, “He’s my son.” It wasn’t so bad. The boss said I could be very strict with him.

Hey man, I was going to write something rude here after your comment on my blog. But I just read what happened so I’m not going to be either jokingly or bitchingly mean…

You don’t need that job ANYway. It’s their loss not yours. Feel bad for the next person who has to teach that little monster.

    Peace.

    Shit happens.

Anyways, you didn’t need the aggravation, especially for only 6 hours a week.

Agreed! I’m feeling more relaxed now too. Plus I think some of my hair that I ripped out is starting to grow back.
