So yesterday I went to retake my drivers test, which you can read from the last update I failed again. Besides that, I was in front of the testing place just about ready to take the test and threw a wrapper on the ground. Suddenly these 2 half wits jag-offs came up to me and showed me a badge they were wearing that said something in the lines of “Taipei Waste Air Team” or “T.W.A.T.” They pointed to the wrapper on the ground and said I broke some law and would have to ticket me. They were serious too, they had their little digital camera and took some pictures of the wrapper on the ground, acting all like they are some CSI investigators checking out a murder scene. They spoke no English, and I speak no Chinese. They took my ID wrote up a ticket gave me back my license and then thanked me! Thanked me?! WTF are you thanking me for you asshole! When they gave it to me, I held it in the air and said to them “Guess what?, I’m not going to pay this” then walked away. The ticket is for $1200NT($37US). Well T.W.A.T…… Thou shall suck my balls!
I think I will actually send them a letter, telling them to suck it too. Stay Tuned for a future update with a letter I will write to them. Below is a copy of the ticket(in Chinese only) Enjoy!

Driving in Taipei is like pushing your way past fat people all in line for free donuts. No offense to fat people, but just imagine that! I have been driving in Taipei basically since I got here, like early November when we bought a scooter, and while technically it hasn’t been legal, I have been doing it anyways. Now I have decided to become legal and get my license. I went last Friday to the place about 45 minutes away since Taiwan doesn’t know a thing about placing things near the middle of the city(actually it’s not even in Taipei, but right outside it). So I get there and proceed with taking stupid health test, which is: height and weight test(why does this matter when it comes to driving?) next was the color blindness and vision test and lastly was the dumbest test. First you had to show the guy you can open and close your hands 3 times really fast, next you had to squat down and up once…and that’s it. Cost me 100NT($3US) to do that…I just think they want any money they can get. Next I was off to the written part of the test. Not sure why they give this test anyways since people in Taiwan don’t follow the rules anyways! But I came prepared, one the of the websites I like to visit a lot is Forumosa.
They gave me a site where you can practice your skills and I mastered that, so when I took the real test I was happy that is was word for word with the test on the website! And yes the test was given in English.
Next was the driving part, sounds easy, but it isn’t. First off you have to drive through 2 lines about 2 feet wide the distance of about 50 feet and must take longer then 7 seconds to complete it. I failed. Twice. So I had to wait a week to re-take the test. That’s where I am today. If Yun can get off of work early enough we are gonna go..this time I’ll know what to expect and practice some before hand. Wish me luck!
Here is my ride in case your wondering, it’s the one in the middle.

Update: I went to take the test again and totally failed! Grrr…I hate that test it is my new arch-rival, Superman has Lex Luther, I have the scooter road test! We shall see who is the victor!

Weather in Taiwan makes little to no sense to me, like why oh why does it have to remain 60 and rain everyday? Maybe it doesn’t rain all the time, maybe it shuts off when I sleep, so when I get up, it’s all ready for me. The absence of heaters do not help much either. The only form of warmth I have is a crappy electric blanket that I use when I go to bed. There is no central heat in Taiwan anywhere, the closest to come to it is buying a personal heater, but since I’m cheap, I’d rather just freeze. Back in December it was nice out, still wearing shorts and sweating outside, everyday was clear skies and warm skin. Don’t worry too much about my rant, come July i’m sure you will be hearing me complain about how god-damn hot it is and wishing for cold again. I’m never happy with weather. Apparently Jan-March is Taiwan rainy season, and it’s suppose to rain everyday. I just don’t understand it though, it’s not like the plants need it, its still too cold for a lot of the crops. Hopefully this blog doesn’t turn into a place where all I do is complain…but I had to write this one, with weather like this, I can’t go out and enjoy myself! Anyways I added support for comments after each post, so please leave comments if you want. Till next time.

Welcome to my new web blog, a place on the internet where any loser with a 56k+ connection can post his thoughts about anything he wants from “Squirrel Mating” to “What he had for breakfast this morning”. Sadly mine won’t be about either of those things. Basically it’s just a place where I can let others who care know about what is going on in my life in Taiwan. Updates will happen when I have things to say, but don’t expect daily. So sit back, relax and enjoy yourself and be prepared to be amazed and bored at the same time!
